BEYOND OUR PREDICAMENTS
***BEYOND OUR PREDICAMENTS***
We may all be called humans but LIFE hits us very differently. How we adjust to life and situations is what differentiates us and gives us our strength.
Are you disabled and think so little of yourself because the people around you laugh at you or even bully you. Maybe you are the only normal kid from a home of freaks which makes your family a laughing situation hmmm...
The difference they have found in you should also be your uniqueness. The first step to your self confidence is plainly accepting your uniqueness, talk about it and make it your strength. Accept all your flaws and turn it around for your good.
People with physical disabilities;
1. Frida Kahlo
2. John Nash
3. Stephen Hawking
4. Nick Vujicic
5. Michael J. Fox
The protagonist of "Back to the Future" was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 1991 when he was only 29 years old and his career was in full success.
He was told that he should withdraw from the stage but he did not cease to be an actor. Although at first it was not easy to accept his illness (he fell into depression and alcoholism) in the last decade he has not stopped working and his foundation has already raised $233 million for Parkinson’s research.
After more than 25 years and with the disease in a very advanced stage, Michael J. Fox continues to maintain his spirit of improvement. Even I who is not physically challenged doesn't have $100 million not to talk of $233 million.
A more familiar one here in Nigeria is Cobhams Asuquo. He is a blind music producer whose record label is one of the best in the country. He excellently plays the piano and sings pretty well qźtoo.
6. Another is Mr. Bean;
Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean) was suffering from stammering from his childhood. He was a shy and self-oriented person. Inspite of all these factors he overcame his fear and conquered the world.
Comments: The chance of shyness, low confidence level and low level of employability increases in the presence of any disability. Rowan Atkinson is one of the persons with stuttering problem but he did not close himself behind the door but faced the world with great courage, determination and enthusiasm.
Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean) studied electrical engineering at Newcastle University. He then went on to earn a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from The Queen's College, Oxford. Of course, we all know Atkinson better for the character he plays, Mr. Bean.
Being challenged isn't only physical but emotional, psychological and mental
***MAIN TOPIC***
I had to share all these stories about physical challenges so we understand this;
"YOU DIDN'T FAIL BECAUSE OF YOUR PREDICAMENTS, YOU ONLY FAILED BECAUSE YOU ARE TOO LAZY TO TRY..." Damsky Bola...
What are human life predicaments...?
1. Someone from a very poor family that can't even buy a shoe.
2. Someone who is from a disabled family
3. Someone who's parents died
4. Someone who doesn’t have anybody to pay for their education etc...
All these are tough and hard but not supposed to draw us down at all, cry and clean your face for the day will be gone before you know it. Start again and be serious about your hardwork, be connected with Christ and He will bless the works of your hand not the one in your mind or to do list.
A girl was adopted by a family of deaf parents and a brother who is also disabled. She was 3 as at when they adopted her and they are not even up to an average family.
They love her like their own and never even told her they weren't her biological parents. She learned the signs of deaf folks just so she could communicate well.
She was constantly laughed at in school because her family was broke and disfunctional. They taunted her with this everyday and it almost killed her dreams. Good for the family because they don't even understand when people are cursing them or making fun of them because they can't hear them but sadly for this young girl she takes in the insults and shitty things said about her disabled family everyday.
One day she told her father and he said to her (using signs), sweetheart, you need not to be worried about what other people think or say about you because even if your family isn't disabled they will still bully you on some other issue.
After that conversation with her dad, she had no real friends from anywhere but bullies then she made education her best friend. In the community they lived, the governor hosted a scholarship program like a competition for both the government and private rich schools to compete with each other and to cut the long story short she came 1st and everybody was shocked. She also won at the national level and eventually excelled to become the Country General Manager of the best oil and gas company of the country.
Now she has applications for friendship from all-over, this is because she chose to grow out of the predicament she was in.
N.B.
Our predicament is like our poop (feaces) no matter how smelling it is, we still use it as a fertiliser. The predicament we found ourselves won't last forever only if we allow it, focus on what you need and pursue it because time waits for no man.
